Q: On school nights especially, when I go to bed, I have trouble falling asleep. I will lay in bed with my eyes closed for up to half an hour, and I was wondering if there was a way to get to sleep faster? Thanks!
A: Try warm milk right before bed. There's a vitamin called Melatonin that people swear by. Give it a try. Do NOT nap during the day. The bed is only for sleeping at night. When you're trying to fall asleep, don't think about yourself. Think about a movie or TV show you watched, or a Hawaiian sunset. If none of those work, there are new medications available by prescription. They are Lunesta, Rozerem, and Ambien CR. I think the problem is that you're staying up late on the weekends and sleeping in late, so on Monday your schedule is all screwed up. You might have to talk to your doctor about this. Bless you and good luck! :)
